The Nova Scotia Health Trauma Program was originally launched by EHS and under the strategic direction of the NS Department of Health and Wellness as the Nova Scotia Trauma Program in 1997 with a mandate to facilitate the provision of optimal trauma care through leadership in injury prevention and control, education, research, and the continuous development and improvement of the trauma system. The program was rebranded in 2013 as Trauma Nova Scotia, and in 2019 the program joined NS Health as the Nova Scotia Health Trauma Program. Core functions of the NSH Trauma Program (aka Trauma Nova Scotia) include maintaining the Trauma Registry, professional education, and research.
